Thanksgiving Checklist

The holidays are coming which means you probably have a long to-do list to compete. These lists typically consist of what ingredients you need from the store or getting a headcount for your family gathering, but did you include your HVAC anywhere? Preparing for the holidays can be stressful and fun all at the same time. Let’s make sure that your plans run smoothly and all of your guests are comfortable by doing a quick HVAC checklist.

Clean around your HVAC

First, you will want to make sure your systems are free and clear of any barriers or debris. Make sure to vacuum around your system to pick up any dust and ensure that your system has at least a 2-foot clearance to breathe. This will help your system run efficiently, keeping you and your guests comfortable at all times.

Check your filter

If you haven’t changed your filter in a while, it’s time to check it. If there is build up dirt and dust, swap it out for a new one. Having a clogged filter can cause you system to work harder than it needs to, resulting in avoidable repairs and your home not heating and cooling like it should.

Clean your vents

While you are cleaning your house, make sure to clean your vents too! If you open your vents and find random particles, it could be interfering with your air flow. Simply soak your vents in warm water, thoroughly dry them and clean out any particles that are visible inside.

Schedule your thermostat

This may seem like an obvious one, but with a lengthy to-do list it can easily be overlooked. Make sure to set your thermostat to the right setting. If you are having more people in your house than usual, you may want to set it a couple degrees lower to allow for some extra body heat.

Enjoy the holidays

Last but not least, enjoy the holidays! Hopefully this checklist has prepared you for a comfortable celebration for you and your guests.
