How to Know When it's time for a new HVAC

No one wants to admit that it’s time for a new furnace, but you may be noticing some signs that the time has maybe come. Keeping an old furnace around can actually cost you more money in the long run. Here are some ways to tell that you need a new furnace.

Old Age- Check the age of your furnace. Usually when homeowners buy a new home, the furnace has already been there so your furnace might be older than you think. Dig up the owner's manual and look at the model number located on the furnace. Furnaces usually last around 15-20 years depending on usage and upkeep.

Humidity- If you are starting to notice lower humidity levels in your home, this could be a sign of a furnace that needs replaced. This can be a problem during winter months or for homes with wood floors.

Excessive Dust- if you are noticing excessive dust, dirt, soot or rust build up in your home, it may be a sign that it’s time for a new furnace. Check out the filter first, and if changing your filter out doesn’t solve the problem then it’s time!

Rising Energy Bills- If your energy bills are rising, this can be a major indicator that it is time for a new furnace. Rising energy bills is a sign that your furnace is not running efficiently.

Frequent Noises- If your furnace is being louder than usual, especially humming, rattling and buzzing noises, it may be time for a new one. These sounds can indicate cracks or structural issues with your system. Make sure to stay on top of annual maintenance checks to catch these problems and avoid them as much as possible.

Constant Repairs- If your repairman is a frequent guest in your home, you might need a new furnace. Frequent repairs can add up, sometimes getting a new furnace is the most efficient and will save you money in the long run.
