DIY HVAC Repair is a Bad Idea

In the age of DIY (Do It Yourself), you can find online video guides for pretty much anything. Materials are easily accessible and doing a project yourself is generally cheaper, but there has to be a limit somewhere, right? Learn why DIY HVAC repair is a bad idea.

The Problem Escalates When a non-professional tries to do a DIY repair to their HVAC system, the outcome is almost never good. Your system is a complex piece of machinery that no online video guide can prepare you for. Don't waste an afternoon being frustrated; it's best to call a trained professional.

Safety Risks Your HVAC system runs on electricity or gas to condition your home; working with either is dangerous for an untrained individual. You risk electrocution and/or carbon monoxide poisoning if repaired incorrectly.

Voiding your System's Warranty Most HVAC systems come with a manufacture's warranty that protects your system for years. If you pry your system open or damage it in any way, it voids the warranty, leaving you responsible to pay for the current and/or future problems your HVAC may have.

Future Problems If you successfully DIY repaired your HVAC system, there could be future problems from the way the system was put back together that may not be present for years; like your entire system or a certain part dying prematurely.

If you have a problem with your HVAC system, think twice before you DIY and call a professional. For more questions call 72 Degrees Comfort Company at 515-965-7272 or email us at office@72degrees.com.
